Nestling in the mountains of Benahavis and designed
by Pepe Gancedo, Montemayor is one of Andalucia´s
most spectacular golf courses.
To get there turn off the main road between San
Pedro and Estepona at La Cancelada and follow the
signs inland and upwards for about seven kilometres.
The trip will be well rewarded.
The long 4th hole for example, has tees on a raised
platform from which the drive must land on an
isolated plateau and the second shot must be aimed
at another.
There is consolation on the green however in the
sound of the cascading waterfall.
This hole offers the chance to use any club in the
bag. By contrast the 18th, with its tees in three
levels set against the mountain, offers fabulous
views across a shallow river to the green 140 metres
away.
The green fee at Monte Mayor includes the hire of a
buggy.
